  A new family of 2x4” 240W medical grade power supplies has been launched by N2Power. The XLM240 family has three variants; open frame, U chassis and a fully enclosed unit including a fan. These units provide up to 94% efficiency and their design reduces energy consumption and requires little forced air cooling, resulting in greater economy.

Electric eel inspires source to power medical implants
Researchers at the University of Fribourg’s Adolphe Merkle Institute, the University of Michigan, and the University of California San Diego, have developed a power source inspired by the electric eel. In a study published by the scientific journal Nature, they have demonstrated a method that suggests that self-powered batteries for biological applications such as pacemakers may one day become a reality.

In addition it has 60950-1 with LPS, UL1310, 62368, and 60335 certifications for a variety of applications. Alternate power ratings and configurations are available for Lenovo or other products.

Low profile 90W medical desktop adapter meets EMC standards
The new 90W TAM90 series of low cost, low profile medical grade AC/DC desktop power adapters has been added to TRUMPower’s product line-up. The TAM90 Class I units come with an IEC 320/C14 AC inlet, while measuring in at a height of only 1.12”. The power adapters are available with single 12, 15, 19, 24V output voltages, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. The power supplies are equipped with a 4 pin DIN connector as the standard but TRUMPower does offer additional connector and cable options when requested.

Offloading this power role to the thin, flat supercapacitor allows Spire to keep the battery small to achieve the ultra-thin form factor of its wearable fitness biosensor that attaches to clothes once, can be washed as normal, and needs no charging.
