The Acuson Sequoia, a general imaging ultrasound system, was developed in response to one of the most prevalent challenges in ultrasound imaging today: the imaging of different sized patients with consistency and clarity. With its Deep Abdominal Transducer (DAX), a new high-powered architecture, and updates to elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound, the Acuson Sequoia produces penetration up to 40cm.

The FDA has cleared the SOMATOM Edge Plus CT system from Siemens Healthineers, which features the FAST (Fully Assisting Scanner Technologies) Integrated Workflow with the FAST 3D Camera – the first patient positioning system powered by artificial intelligence. Additionally, the new scanner allows for automated scan preparation, improved diagnostic confidence, and customised patient dose, making it ideal for high-volume practices and emergency imaging environments.

Revelation mammography system receives FDA clearance
Siemens Healthineers has just received FDA clearance for its MAMMOMAT Revelation. It is the first mammography system capable of automatic breast density measurement during the exam itself, as opposed to during review of the images. The system performs tomosynthesis scans with an angle range of 50 degrees, the widest on the market, which helps to work with overlapping breast tissue and giving a more detailed 3D view.

At the American College of Cardiology’s 67th Annual Scientific Session and Expo, Siemens Healthineers launched its new portable cardiovascular ultrasound solution, the ACUSON Bonsai. According to a recent study, 34 million echo exams were performed in the U.S. in 2017. The ACUSON Bonsai addresses the challenge of these increased clinician workloads by providing a portable and quick system, while maintaining high-quality imaging and diagnostic confidence through user-friendly applications.

The FDA has cleared the MAGNETOM Terra MRI scanner from Siemens Healthineers – the first-ever 7 Tesla MRI cleared for diagnostic imaging. This advanced ultra-high-field scanner produces cross-sectional images of the head and knee, and is intended for patients over 66 lbs. The system’s neurological and musculoskeletal (MSK) applications have the potential to help physicians achieve unprecedented breakthroughs in clinical care by revealing functional and anatomical details not visible at lower magnet field strengths.

Ultra-high MRI scanner receives EU Approval
Siemens Healthineers has just won the first European regulatory approval for an ultra-high-field MRI scanner to be used in clinical practice. The Magnetom Terra sports a magnetic field strength of 7 Tesla, which is considerably more powerful than 3 Tesla, the current high-end standard. MRIs of such strength have been used in research hospitals for years, so it’s a welcome sign that they’re going to be used in more routine applications.

The FDA has cleared the ARTIS pheno, a robotic C-arm angiography system from Siemens Healthineers created for use in minimally invasive interventional procedures. The ARTIS pheno possesses not only a zen40HDR flat panel detector and GIGALIX X-ray tube for outstanding image quality, but also new 2k recording technology capable of delivering 2D imaging resolution that is four times higher in all recording processes than its predecessor system, the Artis zeego.
