Digital transformation key to lightening load of NHS

The NHSX, the new unit driving forward the digital transformation of health and social care, is seeking to create a stronger health tech ecosystem by making it easier for health tech companies to engage with the NHS, according to Hadley Beeman, CTO, NHSX and Chief Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State at the Department for Health and Social Care on the final day of Unbound London.

Speaking about the need to strengthen the health tech ecosystem, Beeman commented: “We know we need to reshape the market. The NHS has made it difficult to engage and we need the NHSX to create a strong healthtech ecosystem.

“The current system doesn’t make sense and we need to change the architecture so it’s easier to get into the tech side. Ultimately, we are looking to lighten the load on the frontline through these solutions.”

In response to CEO of Unbound, Daniel Seal’s question, as to the best way health tech companies can engage now with the NHS, Beeman added:

“Come and speak with us. The job that doctors do is so important. They need modern technology from data systems in order to user interfaces that provide quality patient care. Without these solutions, it can be frustrating for doctors, clinicians and patients, as it pulls resources and time from patient care.”

Chaired by high-tech entrepreneur and investor Yossi Vardi, Unbound London, in partnership with Vodafone, the Italian Trade Agency, Flanders Investment & Trade and Jumpstart, aims to bridge the gap between corporates, governments and entrepreneurs to develop links that fuel future innovation and creativity.

Daniel Seal, CEO and Founder of Unbound London, said: “This year’s Unbound London is the biggest yet. We are honoured to be at the forefront of building the UK innovation ecosystem with groundbreaking startups at Unbound London focusing on femtech, health tech, AI and much more.

“We have been delighted to welcome 20 outstanding startups in the Vodafone 5GDIG challenge, with Supponor selected as Vodafone’s choice. Topics heading the bill included the future of finance, smart cities, AI and disruptive innovation, with digital transformation forming a major focus.

“Over the last two days, we have heard from several industry leaders including the Head of Product of Revolut for Business, Chief Digital Officer of Capita, and the Chief Operating Officer of Ogilvy who are already facing the digital transformation challenge head-on.”
