Medically-certified DC/DC converter is certified 2MOPP

Medically-certified DC/DC converter is certified 2MOPP
A new fully medically-certified DC/DC converter has been developed by RECOM, which the company claims to be the first in its class to provide 2MOPP with 250VAC working voltage in a SIP7 package. This compact design offers engineers more freedom to develop their PCB layout, knowing that they will comply with the stringent regulations for medical certifications. It is certainly a challenge to design high performance, space-saving medical devices, while still complying with the latest medical safety and EMC regulations.

VCA meets ultra-small requirements for precise control

VCA meets ultra-small requirements for precise control
Medical devices are often smaller and lighter in weight than the vast majority of applications that require some type of motion control, simply because they are often portable/mobile, hand-carried or lifted. Internal components needed for these devices are chosen carefully in order to make for the smallest overall device footprint. This poses unique challenges to component manufacturers supplying the medical market.

Hospitals are still having issues with power quality

Hospitals are still having issues with power quality
Have you noticed that more and more people are taking selfies from their hospital bed? It’s not that there has been a sudden outbreak, or that there has been a spike in the number of accidents. It’s just that hospital patients and visitors are now allowed to use mobile phones on-site without fear of interfering with medical equipment. However, as Steve Hughes, Managing Director of power quality specialist REO UK explains, hospitals still have a long way to go to reduce power quality issues.
